Hello. My name is Lora and I want to welcome you to “Sarah’s House”, home for un-wed mothers.  I am the founder of “Sarah’s House Ministries”.  My husband Mark is the Pastor of “Heart of Worship Fellowship” located in Bayshore, Long Island.  We have three children, two adult children and one teen aged son, who serve the Lord together with us in the ministry of worship, their music can be heard on our Home page.

   Sarah’s House has been a vision in my heart for a very long time.  We have been serving the needs of young women in crisis pregnancy since the birth of Sarah Marie in 1999 and continue to pursue safe housing for the girls and their babies.  I have been mentoring young teen-aged women through the Word of God since 1996. I want to take care of the needs of young girls who suffer from emotional pain and teach them the life changing power of God’s love.  

  It is my passion to encourage young women, because I came from a painful childhood.  My teenage years were very painful and I felt very alone.  When my parents separated, my father left us and my mother began drinking and misusing prescription drugs to dull the pain.  Being the oldest of five, I felt like the mother to my siblings and responsible to help lift the burden from my mother.  I was 16 years old and used my money to help my family as my little sisters were only 5 and 7 years old.   I couldn’t wait to get out and have my own life.  I would never need anyone.  My plan was to go to college so I could become a music teacher and take care of myself.  I would never depend on anyone. 

   I did go to college and become a music teacher but I suffered much more along the way in an abusive relationship that lasted 4 years.  The events that followed were quite tragic for me.  I don’t want anyone to have to suffer the way I did and to feel alone.  I have committed my life to support and encourage young women to grow in the true knowledge of who they are, and to know how much they are loved by God who has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”  You are NOT alone.

    My painful past has been healed by the love that God has given me through Jesus Christ and He has restored me and given me abundant life just like He said in 1John10:10 “I have come that you may have life and life more abundantly”.  “Sarah’s House” is God’s message of love for all those girls who are hurting and in need.
